Why law firm websites lose the client before the first call
Someone searching for a lawyer has usually just had a very bad week. They search on a phone, compare two or three firms quickly and call whoever looks right and answers first.
Most firm websites lose that moment for the same reasons:
- Bigger firms own the results. You can't outspend billboard and television budgets, so you have to outrank them on the specific searches that matter in your city.
- Every practice area shares one page. Someone searching for a wrongful death lawyer lands on a generic list and isn't sure you take their kind of case.
- The site isn't built for a phone. Without a mobile-first build, the firm misses the "near me" searches where most legal enquiries start.
- Enquiries arrive with nothing to catch them. A form sent at 11pm sits in an inbox until morning, and by then the person has called someone else.
- There's little to reassure a nervous visitor. Choosing a lawyer is a trust decision, and trust signals buried on an About page do no work.
What I build for law firms
Each piece is a separate service with its own fixed price. Most firms start with the website and intake together.
- A website with a page per practice area. AI WordPress website development starts from $999. The Complete package, from $2,200, covers up to 12 pages, a dedicated page per service, local SEO with LocalBusiness schema and CRM intake with tagging and routing.
- Local search that keeps working after launch. AI SEO services from $600 a month cover Google Business Profile management, schema, page by page optimization and content structured so AI assistants can quote it. Month to month, with no lock-in.
- Intake that replies in seconds. AI CRM integration and automation from $1,100 puts web, chat, call and social enquiries in one CRM, with an instant reply, a named owner for every lead and follow-up that keeps going until the person books.
- An intake assistant for out-of-hours questions. An AI chatbot trained on your firm from $900 asks your qualifying questions before a consultation is booked. It answers from your approved content only and hands over to a person rather than guessing.
Trust signals sit beside every call to action: attorney photography, client testimonials and a clear reason to choose the firm.
Proof: a recent law firm build
San Diego Law Firm is led by Aaron Steigerwalt, an attorney who has worked both sides of litigation, plaintiff and defense. The firm handles auto accident, wrongful death and sexual harassment claims.
I built a mobile-first website with its own page, keyword and schema for each of those three practice areas, plus local SEO for San Diego searches. Web and social enquiries land in one CRM that replies instantly and books consultations around the clock, so no lead waits for office hours. The build took one week at a fixed $3,000.
How a law firm project runs
- Discovery. We start from the cases you want more of, not a list of pages, and work back to the site that brings them in.
- Architecture. Sitemap, practice area pages and the keyword for each page, approved in writing before design begins.
- Design and build. You approve the design, then I build with your real content and connect the CRM and intake.
- Launch and training. Analytics, redirects and recorded walkthroughs so your team can update the site without a developer.
Price, scope and launch date are fixed in writing before work starts. A complete site with CRM intake typically takes about two weeks, and the CRM on its own is live in about five days. Hosting and domain are bought in your name, so the firm owns everything.
You work with me directly. I've shipped 1,400+ projects since 2014 for clients in 40+ countries. The first step is a free 30-minute call: tell me how clients find you today and I'll show you where the enquiries are going instead.
