The client
Corrie Arleen Benson opened Cocoa By Design in 2017. She hand-airbrushes every organic spray tan herself, for clients in Fountain Valley and across Orange County, and the studio also offers teeth whitening.
Nobody books a spray tan casually. It is usually the week of a wedding, a holiday or a photo shoot, and almost every first-timer has the same fear: what if I come out orange?
The problem
Nine years of good work were almost invisible online. A nervous first-timer had nothing to reassure her and no way to see what anything cost without asking.
The business side had the same gaps:
- Five offers, from a $75 tan to a $250 package, with no clear structure
- Every booking arriving by phone or DM, often in the middle of an appointment
- Local searches for a spray tan nearby going to competitors
The brief had three jobs: answer the orange fear before anyone asks, show prices without a phone call, and turn a $75 tan into a $100 monthly membership.
What we built
I built a new WordPress site as part of my AI WordPress website development service, laid out in the order a first-timer actually meets things.
- A page per service, prices up front. $75, $100, $250. No "contact us for pricing" on a service people book in a hurry.
- Prep and aftercare in plain English. Clients learn to exfoliate 12 hours before and that the colour lasts 10 days, before they ever walk in.
- Vagaro booking on every page. A booking at 11pm no longer needs anybody awake to take it.
- A membership that sells itself. The $100 monthly plan sits right beside the $75 single tan, so the maths does the persuading.
- Local SEO for Orange County. Local schema and location signals for Fountain Valley and the cities around it.
Everything runs on tools a studio owner can manage alone: WordPress for the site and Vagaro for the diary. Nothing needs a developer on call.
The result
The membership upgrade now makes its own case. A single tan is $75, two a month would be $150, and the membership is $100, all shown on the same screen.
First-timers arrive knowing how to prepare and how long the colour lasts. That means fewer questions, better results and far fewer interruptions for Corrie while she is working. Clients who decide late at night can book there and then.
